    Day 1- Depart the USA to begin your incredible South African Adventure!

    Day 2- Arrival in Cape Town where you will be met by a representative of FIT Tours who will run through your program with you, and present you with a detailed travel digest outlining property to property route descriptions and points of interest along the way. You will also be assisted with the collection of your Europcar rental vehicle.

    The Premier Hotel Cape Manor is located in the beautifully tree lined Marais Road on the Sea Point promenade in Cape Town commanding spectacular views of Table Mountain or the awe inspiring Atlantic Ocean.     Days 3 and 4 Enjoy the full day to explore all that this world city has to offer. Highlights that should not be missed include a journey around the magnificent Cape Peninsula to the Cape of Good Hope, a trip up Table Mountain for unsurpassed views of the city and beyond and a trip to Robben Island for a poignant look into South Africa’s troubled past and inspiration of hope for a bright future.

    Day 5 Today after a leisurely breakfast you will bid farewell to Cape Town for the short journey to the fabled Cape wine region, renowned throughout the world for top quality wines. Enjoy the day exploring this beautiful region famed for wine and food, and make sure to stop and try some of the areas famed vintages.     Day 6 Today continue your journey east and head into the beautiful Klein Karoo. Travelling through the Klein Karoo the visitor passes through fruit growing, wine producing and ostrich farming towns such as Oudtshoorn, Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Van Wyksdorp, Barrydale and Uniondale and historic Amalienstein, Zoar, Dysselsdorp and Haarlem.It's an area of magnificent landscapes and towering cliffs, crystal clear streams and the abundance of trees and indigenous flora - all contribute to making the Klein Karoo one of the Western Cape 's most diverse regions.

    Your destination is the town of Oudtshoorn, capital of the Klein Karoo. Oudtshoorn is situated at the foot of the majestic Swartberg Mountain range. Numerous rivers, streams and falls have their origins in the Swartberg, Outeniqua and Kamanassie ranges around the town. However, the town is most famous for its feathered inhabitants, ostriches. This is the undisputed capital of the ostrich and there are some 400 farms in the area a few of which are now designated “show farms” where you can visit the farms and get an idea of the life of this feathered giant. In addition do not miss the chance to visit the spectacular Cango Caves, one of the world’s greatest cave complexes with extraordinary displays of stalactites and stalagmites to captivate even the most weary traveler.

    The Thorntree Country House in Klein Karoo, South Africa is the perfect base from which to explore the unique attractions of this area. The Country House is situated on the route to the Cango Caves , the Swartberg Pass and the circle route to Prince Albert via Meiringspoort. It is also within easy reach of the Cango Ostrich Farm and Cango Wildlife Ranch. The homestead and outbuildings date back to the 1800's and reflect the typical Klein Karoo architectural style. They have been gracefully restored to their original splendour, and equipped with all modern conveniences. Our dining room reflects our warmth and hospitality, and overlooks the sparkling swimming pool. The picturesque Schoemanshoek Valley provides a breathtaking backdrop.

    Day 7- After breakfast time to head over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the Indian Ocean. Travel along the beautiful coastal road through the lakes and beaches of Wilderness to the resort town of Knsyna. The town nestles between the impressive Outeniqua mountains and the Indian ocean , with the world-renowned forests encircling it like a protective mantle. At the heart of Knysna is the 21 ha estuary, protected from the sea by the monolithic sandstone "Heads" - silent sentinels down the centuries of the rich history of this unique part of "paradise of earth".

    Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Cunningham Island Guest House.The guest house boasts luxury accommodation and fine facilities, with friendly and efficient service. Wake up gently to the sounds of the birds, then enjoy a complimentary breakfast before setting off for adventure. Or you can simply relax by our pool or even taking a leisurely swim. Evenings here are perfect for strolling down the beach.

    Day 8- Enjoy the day to explore the surrounding area renowned for its natural beauty. Explore the magnificent beaches and enchanting indigenous forests, or take a cruise on the lagoon to visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve, or visit Monkeyland for a walk in the wilds with a large variety of primates. However, if you want to chill, why not just sit at the edge of the lagoon and sample some of Knysna’s famous oysters with glass of great South African sparkling wine!

    Day 9- Today continue your journey eastwards to the Amakhala Game Reserve your home for the next 3 nights. The journey is around 3 and a half hours and will take you into a whole new world in which Africa ’s large game is abundant. You will arrive just in time for lunch and a chance to relax before your late afternoon / evening open vehicle game drive with your experienced game ranger in search of Africa ’s wildlife. After sundowner drinks in the bush continue your drive with the aid of a powerful spotlight to search for the savannah’s nocturnal game. Return to the lodge for a hearty dinner. Overnight in a standard room on a full board basis at Bush Lodge. Feel invigorated by the sounds and fragrances of the African bush, while lounging on your personal deck, or viewing from within your plunge pool. Built in the bush, against a back drop of aloe’s and indigenous fauna and flora, make the Bush Lodge a perfect African retreat.     Day 10 and 11- Your morning and evening game drives, with the services of rangers through Amakhala Game Reserve, will leave you in awe of the diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery which abounds here. The reserve is home to a wide variety of game including the famous “Big 5” – elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard, as well as many other species including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and cheetahs. During the mid day relax at the lodge and soak up the views over the floodplains as you revel in being in the midst of pure nature. Overnight in a standard room on a full board basis at Bush Lodge.

    Day 12 After one final morning game drive and a hearty breakfast it will be time for your to retrace your tracks to Port Elizabeth where you will return your vehicle to the Europcar office at the airport before your departing flight to Johannesburg and onwards to the United States.
